Cody Walker says he would not return as Brian O’Conner for Fast Forever, although he believes modern technology could make the character’s appearance possible.
Cody Walker previously helped complete Paul Walker’s scenes in Furious 7 after his brother died in a 2013 car crash.
Caleb Walker and another body double also assisted, with visual effects used to reproduce Paul’s likeness for the film.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cody said he has no interest in repeating that process.
He considers Brian’s existing ending appropriate because the character was allowed to leave the franchise alive and remain with his children rather than being killed off.
Cody also acknowledged that filmmaking technology has changed considerably since Furious 7.
He said years of unused footage from previous Fast films could potentially be combined with AI or visual effects, meaning neither he nor Caleb would necessarily have to portray Brian again.
Cody said any decision about bringing Brian back should ultimately consider what Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker, wants. He also said he currently does not know whether Brian will appear in the finale.
The possibility remains relevant because Vin Diesel previously told Vanity Fair that reuniting Dom Toretto and Brian O’Conner was one of his conditions for making the final film.
Fast Forever is currently planned for March 17, 2028. The project follows Fast X, which ended with a cliffhanger in 2023.
