Kate O’Flynn earned her first Emmy on Sunday, winning outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her performance as Patricia in Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay.”
O’Flynn’s victory came during the opening awards of the 2026 Emmy ceremony in Los Angeles. In her acceptance speech, she thanked the cast and crew of the series, creator Katie Dippold and Apple TV, before dedicating the award to “all the Patricias out there.”
The actor faced strong competition from fellow “Widow’s Bay” nominee Dale Dickey, alongside Hannah Einbinder and Meg Stalter of “Hacks,” Janelle James of “Abbott Elementary,” Michelle Pfeiffer of “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and Jessica Williams of “Shrinking.”
O’Flynn plays Patricia, the socially awkward chief assistant to Matthew Rhys’ Mayor Tom Loftis.
The series follows Loftis as he attempts to turn a remote New England island into a tourist destination despite local warnings surrounding an alleged curse. Patricia becomes one of his key allies as unusual events escalate.
“Widow’s Bay” emerged as one of the ceremony’s leading first-season contenders, collecting 19 nominations. Its acting recognition also extended to Rhys, Dickey and Stephen Root.
Stephen Root later won outstanding supporting actor in a comedy for the series, adding another major acting prize to its Emmy haul.
The ceremony also saw Jean Smart win another comedy actress Emmy for “Hacks,” while Rhea Seehorn collected her first Emmy for “Pluribus.”
Variety reported that O’Flynn’s performance had become one of the most acclaimed elements of the new series. Her Emmy win now gives the British actor a major television award from her first nomination.
