Country singer Brian “Nashville” Neil Duckworth has died at 56. His family’s obituary says he died at his home in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on Sept. 7. Duckworth developed his musical career alongside his family.
He, Greg and Wendy began performing together before forming I-79 in 2008, making their debut under that name at the Colgate Country Showdown. The trio later adopted the name Taylor Made.
Taylor Made eventually built a following on the country music circuit and opened for established performers including Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley.
The band’s 2012 release “Things You Don’t Grow Out Of” became its best-known charting song, reaching No. 36 on the Billboard Indicator chart.
Music was only part of Duckworth’s working life. His obituary said he remained a dump truck driver for Wolfe’s Excavating while pursuing music, earning the nickname “Truck Boss.” He particularly enjoyed the outdoor nature of the job.
Duckworth is survived by his wife of nearly 16 years, Tina Scheuvront Duckworth, six children Zach, Ashton, Logan, Kayla, Michael and Matt four grandchildren and five siblings.
His niece, Brianna Duckworth Kazner, remembered him in a Facebook post featuring footage from her wedding.
She said Duckworth recently discussed a song idea with her and often helped when she became creatively stuck while writing music.
The family obituary described Duckworth’s love of family, music, nature and his pets as central parts of his life. His cause of death was not stated.
Duckworth will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Garden on Sept. 14.
