Sharna Burgess is returning to the ballroom as a professional dancer on season 35 of Dancing With the Stars, marking her first full season with the US series since 2021.
The announcement was made Monday, Aug. 24, on Good Morning America and through the official Dancing With the Stars social media accounts.
Burgess, 41, confirmed her return during the broadcast, saying she is excited to compete again for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy and reunite with the show’s dancing community.
Burgess first joined the program’s troupe in season 13 in 2011 before becoming a professional dancer in season 16 in 2013.
During her original run, she partnered with celebrities including Nick Carter, Jesse Metcalfe, Antonio Brown and Andy Dick.
Her biggest competitive achievement came in season 27, when she and Bobby Bones won the Mirrorball Trophy. Her most recent full season was season 30 in 2021, when she competed with Brian Austin Green, her fiancé.
Burgess subsequently stepped away before season 31 as she focused on motherhood following the birth of her son, Zane, earlier in 2022.
She later made a cameo during the show’s 500th episode in November 2024 and continues to serve as a judge on Dancing With the Stars Australia.
Burgess previously said discussions about a possible return had taken place, but she was not ready to resume the demanding schedule because of family commitments and other professional projects.
Earlier this month, she indicated that her priorities had changed and that she would welcome an opportunity to return.
She joins Witney Carson as the second confirmed professional dancer for season 35. Carson, a two time Len Goodman Mirrorball Champion, will dance with Jimmy Kimmel Live! star Guillermo Rodriguez.
The celebrity lineup already includes Summer House star Ciara Miller, Love Island UK alum Maura Higgins and Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson. Former DWTS: Juniors professional Kamri Peterson will also join the troupe.
The remaining celebrities and professional dancers will be revealed on Good Morning America Wednesday, Sept. 2. The new season begins with a two night premiere on Sept. 15 and 16 on ABC and Disney+, with episodes streaming on Hulu the following day.
Burgess’ celebrity partner has not yet been announced, leaving her season 35 pairing among the major details still to be revealed.
