Kelly Osbourne has spoken candidly about her strained relationship with older sister Aimee, explaining how their different choices shaped the Osbourne siblings’ relationship.
Why Aimee Stayed Away From The Osbournes
Aimee, the eldest daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, moved out of the family home at 16 rather than grow up under the cameras of the MTV reality series The Osbournes.
Speaking to Q1043’s Out of the Box in 2020, Aimee said protecting her privacy was important to her and that appearing on television did not fit the future she envisioned for herself.
Sharon previously explained on The Talk in 2018 that Aimee strongly disliked the idea of growing up on camera. Aimee made limited appearances in the show, with her face blurred in some episodes.
She later maintained a relatively private public profile, although she appeared at Ozzy’s funeral in Birmingham and at the 2026 Grammy Awards when the Black Sabbath singer was honored.
Kelly Describes a Longstanding Rift
On the We Need to Talk podcast in September 2026, Kelly said she could not explain Aimee’s decisions on her behalf but acknowledged that the sisters have remained distant.
Kelly said she felt Aimee did not acknowledge her and Jack while they were growing up and described the siblings as “polar opposite.”
She also said she has resentment over not having the kind of older-sister relationship she expected. Jack previously discussed the same distance on the Disrespectfully podcast in 2025.
He said Aimee viewed the MTV series as an easy route to attention and wanted to establish herself independently rather than be associated with her family’s fame.
Kelly said she respects and accepts Aimee but does not expect their relationship to change unless they can accept each other as they are.
