Sarah Michelle Gellar celebrated daughter Charlotte Grace’s 17th birthday with a personal Instagram tribute featuring rare photos of the two together.
In one image, Charlotte wears a pink dress while Gellar kisses her cheek. The actress wrote that her daughter was the child who made her a mother and has since become someone who brings out the best in her.
Gellar also described Charlotte as her “biggest champion,” adding that she was unsure how her daughter had reached 17 so quickly. She later shared another photo on Instagram Stories alongside Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday.”
Charlotte marked the occasion on her own Instagram account, posting several pictures that included a mirror selfie in the same pink dress. Her caption celebrated turning 17 with birthday emojis.
Gellar and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. have two children: Charlotte and 14-year-old son Rocky James. The couple met while working on the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, became romantically involved in 2000 and married in Mexico in September 2002.
Charlotte was born in 2009, followed by Rocky in 2012. The couple has generally kept their children away from public attention, although Charlotte has occasionally appeared with her mother at events, including a 2022 screening of Gellar’s Netflix film Do Revenge.
Gellar has previously said that becoming a parent changed her priorities. Speaking to PEOPLE, she described motherhood as the most meaningful part of her life and said time with her children mattered more to her than many of her professional accomplishments.
