Saquon Barkley Suffers Hamstring Injury Against Rams

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley left Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams with a hamstring injury and was ruled questionable to return.

Saquon Barkley exited the Eagles’ Week 4 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday after appearing to injure his hamstring on Philadelphia’s opening play following a turnover.

The Eagles had taken possession at the Rams’ 28-yard line after Drew Mukuba intercepted a pass. Barkley received the handoff on the first play and gained six yards before being forced out of bounds.

He appeared to be favoring his leg afterward and briefly knelt on the sideline while play was stopped.

Barkley was taken to the medical tent for evaluation before heading toward the locker room. The Sporting News reported that he was walking under his own power, although he was visibly limping.

Philadelphia subsequently listed Barkley as questionable to return with a hamstring injury. Tank Bigsby replaced him in the backfield.

The injury adds to a difficult stretch for Barkley, who also left Philadelphia’s game against the Tennessee Titans two weeks earlier after suffering what was described as a “stinger” on the opening play.

The Eagles entered the Rams game already dealing with several absences. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith was ruled out with a hamstring injury, while tight end Dallas Goedert was unavailable because of a knee injury.

Right tackle Lane Johnson was also scratched about 90 minutes before kickoff for personal reasons.

The latest update confirms Barkley’s hamstring injury but does not provide a timetable for his return or indicate the severity of the issue.
