Kate Beckinsale Sparks Concern With Cryptic Instagram Posts

Kate Beckinsale sparked concern Sunday after deleting a pair of cryptic Instagram posts, including one reading “bye” and another saying, “Congratulations. You won. I give up.”

The first message appeared on Beckinsale’s Instagram grid as white lettering on a black background. A separate Instagram Story showed a rainbow over a street with the message about giving up.

Comments on the grid post were disabled, according to Entertainment Weekly and Us Weekly. Beckinsale subsequently deleted the posts.

TMZ reported that her Instagram account appeared to have been scrubbed, while her representative had not immediately provided an explanation.

Her recent social media activity comes after several public discussions about difficult personal experiences.

Beckinsale has spoken about grieving the deaths of her mother, Judy Loe, and stepfather Roy Battersby, and about the effect those experiences had on her appetite and well-being.

Earlier in September, Beckinsale discussed PTSD in a now-deleted post, emphasizing that trauma can remain invisible to other people and calling for greater kindness toward those dealing with it.

Her comments followed months of public discussion about grief and online criticism of her appearance.

The actress also previously removed her Instagram posts in August after addressing comments about her weight and explaining that bereavement had affected her physically.

Beckinsale has not publicly explained what prompted Sunday’s messages or who they were directed toward. Her representatives had not responded to requests for comment in reports published after the posts appeared.
