SUMMARY

  • Peacock down reports spiked on Feb. 8, 2026.
  • Users cited login and playback failures.

Peacock appeared to experience a service disruption Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, as thousands of users worldwide reported problems accessing the NBC Universal owned streaming platform, according to outage tracking data and social media posts.

The Peacock outage disrupted on-demand viewing for some subscribers during peak daytime hours, raising concerns about platform reliability as streaming competition intensifies.

Data from Downdetector, a service operated by Ookla, showed user complaints climbing sharply around 12:10 PM Eastern time.

Reported issues included buffering, app crashes and inability to stream live content. Peacock has more than thirty million paid subscribers globally.

“Short duration outages are often linked to authentication servers or regional network congestion,” said David Belson, head of data insight at Ookla.

A Peacock spokesperson said the company was “aware of reports affecting some users and working to restore full service.”

“I couldn’t stream live sports for nearly half an hour,” said Mark Ellison, a subscriber in London.

Peacock has not issued a detailed cause. The incident highlights ongoing infrastructure challenges facing global streaming platforms.
