Rockstar Games has given fans an extended look at GTA 6 through a 25-minute Netflix preview, revealing new gameplay features ahead of its Nov. 19 release.
Netflix hosted an exclusive GTA 6 gameplay preview for subscribers, offering one of the most detailed official looks yet at Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world title.
The footage was captured on PlayStation 5 and focuses heavily on what players can expect during missions and exploration.
The story follows Jason Duval, an Army veteran, and Lucia Camino, the series’ first female protagonist.
After Lucia’s time in Leonida Penitentiary, the pair become involved in a criminal conspiracy and work together on robberies and other criminal activities across Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida.
The preview shows Jason and Lucia carrying out convenience store and jewelry-store robberies, visiting diners and bars, escaping police and becoming involved in armed confrontations.
At one point, they work as security for a wealthy client before fighting armed kidnappers. The extended footage also reveals several gameplay systems that were not clearly shown in earlier leaked material.
Players can apparently interact directly with NPCs through contextual actions, including petting a dog. A small demon head icon appearing after an action by Jason suggests the game may include a morality or honor system.
The footage also depicts Lucia encountering a social media style livestream while driving a stolen vehicle, indicating that internet culture will play a role in the game’s world.
Other showcased features include airboats in an Everglades inspired environment, underwater scuba diving, interactive refrigerator and beer interactions, cigar smoking, slow motion aiming with highlighted enemy weak points and Lucia base jumping from a skyscraper.
GTA 6 is arriving 13 years after GTA 5, which launched in September 2013. Rockstar originally planned the new game for 2025 but delayed its release twice, saying additional development time was needed.
Rockstar has also acknowledged that leaked footage and spoilers circulating online could affect players’ intended experience and urged fans to wait for the official release.
The game is being promoted through a partnership between Netflix and Rockstar Games. Viewers without Netflix can watch the preview through Rockstar’s website and YouTube.
Piper Sandler estimates GTA 6 could sell 35 million copies by April 2027, according to Forbes. GTA 5 reportedly sold 11 million copies on its launch day.
