Caleb Williams Suffers Right Leg Injury vs. Vikings

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams left Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering an apparent right leg injury during the fourth quarter at Soldier Field.

Williams was scrambling toward the end zone when his right leg gave out. He immediately grabbed the leg and could not put weight on it before receiving help from medical personnel.

The Bears’ quarterback was taken to the injury tent and later transported to the locker room on a cart. Williams covered his face with a towel but raised a thumb toward the crowd as he left the field.

ESPN reported that Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards and one interception before his exit. He also rushed five times for 42 yards.

Tyson Bagent replaced Williams at quarterback. The Bears were trailing 6-3 when the injury occurred, leaving the team without its starting quarterback during a late red-zone possession.

The exact nature of Williams’ injury had not been confirmed in the supplied reports. David J. Chao suggested it could involve a right hamstring sprain, but that remained an assessment rather than an official diagnosis.
