Law Roach has reversed his earlier claim that Zendaya and Tom Holland were already married, saying the couple has not yet held an official wedding ceremony.
Speaking to Variety and CNN at the 2026 Emmy Awards on Sept. 14, Roach acknowledged that his previous statement about Zendaya’s marital status was untrue.
He said the couple “haven’t had an official ceremony yet” and indicated the event would come after Zendaya completes promotional duties for Dune: Part Three.
Roach was also asked whether he was joking because Holland has previously referred to Zendaya as his “wife.”
He maintained that the wedding had not happened, while adding that Zendaya has effectively been his wife for a long time.
Roach had taken a different position in March when he told Access Hollywood that Zendaya and Holland’s “wedding has already happened.” He later doubled down when asked if the statement was genuine, saying, “It’s very true.”
That earlier claim was never publicly confirmed by Zendaya or Holland, leaving uncertainty around their relationship status.
The latest comments also addressed AI-generated images that appeared to depict Zendaya and Holland’s wedding. Roach said the images were “totally fake” and criticized the dress shown in the fabricated visuals.
Holland had discussed the images during a June Esquire interview, where he indicated that his family had been present at the real event depicted by the circulating claims, without providing further details.
People reported in August that Zendaya and Holland had held a private wedding celebration in Surrey, England. However, the supplied reports do not establish whether that celebration was an official legal ceremony.
