Federal and county authorities on Tuesday released images showing a masked, armed person at the Arizona home of Nancy Guthrie hours before her Feb. 1 abduction north of Tucson, marking the first major investigative break in the Guthrie abduction.
The images, released by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, provide the clearest visual evidence yet in the Guthrie abduction involving the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie.
Investigators said the suspect disconnected the doorbell camera at 1:47 AM Ms. Guthrie’s pacemaker lost its phone connection forty one minutes later, indicating she was taken.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said the imagery significantly narrows suspect identification. Former FBI analyst Mary Ellen O’Toole said camera tampering suggests premeditation and operational awareness.
Authorities urged public tips while withholding tactical details to protect the investigation.
