Ewan McGregor may give Anne Hathaway a dinosaur themed baby present, drawing inspiration from their upcoming science fiction film The End of Oak Street.
McGregor discussed the possible present with PEOPLE on Aug. 9 at the world premiere of The End of Oak Street in Burbank, California.
The actor said he had yet to purchase a gift for Hathaway, but the conversation prompted him to consider what he could give her.
The idea took a direct cue from the movie. When asked whether his present could relate to their project, McGregor proposed “a little stuffed dinosaur or something,” offering a simple way to connect the gift with the film’s central creatures.
Hathaway announced her pregnancy on June 19 through Instagram. In the video accompanying the announcement, she cradled her baby bump while revealing that she and Shulman were expecting another child.
The couple already have two sons, Jonathan and Jack. The new arrival will make this Hathaway and Shulman’s third child together.
Hathaway has received another film inspired baby gift during her pregnancy. While appearing on Today with Tom Holland in July to promote The Odyssey, she was presented with a hand knitted outfit featuring a Trojan theme tied to the movie.
The actress became emotional while receiving that present and described it as an appropriately epic gift, giving her pregnancy another connection to one of her current film projects.
The End of Oak Street places Hathaway and McGregor in a science fiction survival story involving a neighborhood mysteriously uprooted and surrounded by dinosaurs. The cast also includes Maisy Stella and Christian Convery.
The movie was written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. It is scheduled to open in US theaters on Aug. 14, putting its release immediately after the Los Angeles premiere.
Hathaway’s 2026 Projects
The dinosaur thriller is part of a particularly busy period for Hathaway, who has also appeared in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey during 2026.
Her upcoming work includes Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel that is scheduled for October. Hathaway is also attached to produce and star in Yesteryear, based on Caro Claire Burke’s novel.
Hathaway told The Hollywood Reporter that she was surprised when she initially saw how many film releases were scheduled for her in 2026.
She said she enjoys making movies and was pleased that audiences were interested in original projects.
Her comments came as she promoted The End of Oak Street, which she described as an especially original project because of its unusual story and Mitchell’s involvement as both writer and director.
Hathaway’s appearance at the Los Angeles premiere also attracted attention because her custom maternity outfit prominently revealed her baby bump.
PEOPLE reported that she wore a light-blue sculptural top with a high low hem, baggy low-rise jeans and red and pink heels.
The look generated mixed reactions online, with some commenters criticizing the styling while others praised the actress.
