Breeze Airways Launches New Nonstop Flights from Huntsville and Atlantic City to Popular US Destinations

KEY POINTS

  • Breeze Airways will begin nonstop service from Huntsville to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on June 12.
  • Atlantic City routes include nonstop flights to Charleston, South Carolina, and Raleigh Durham, North Carolina, plus BreezeThru service to Tampa, Florida.
  • Introductory one way fares for Atlantic City routes start at $39 for Raleigh Durham and $49 for Charleston.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., — Breeze Airways is expanding its US domestic network with new nonstop flights from Huntsville International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and multiple routes from Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey.

The airline said the Huntsville service will begin June 12, offering travelers direct access to South Florida.

The Huntsville International Airport addition provides a new low cost option for travelers seeking South Florida destinations, complementing Allegiant Air’s recently launched nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale.

Breeze Airways’ expansion in Atlantic City will increase the number of year round carriers serving the small South Jersey airport, which has historically relied on limited commercial service.

Breeze Airways, founded in 2021 by David Neeleman, the founder of JetBlue Airways, has rapidly grown to serve more than 80 airports across the US, including international destinations in Cancun and the Bahamas.

Atlantic City International Airport currently hosts Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air, which provide seasonal and year round service to Florida markets.

Spirit Airlines reduced operations after closing its crew base in 2024 and filing for bankruptcy later that year.

“Atlantic City is not only a great destination for travelers, but also a gateway to many other metro areas,” Neeleman said in a statement.

The airline’s entry is seen as a way to increase convenience and choice for travelers from southern New Jersey and Philadelphia regions.

Stephen F. Dougherty, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, said, “For an airport of our size, expanding service in a way that directly benefits our passengers is especially meaningful.”

Airline industry analyst John Heimlich, former chief economist at Airlines for America, noted that Breeze’s expansion reflects a broader trend of regional airports leveraging low cost carriers to increase connectivity.

“Smaller markets like Huntsville and Atlantic City are increasingly attractive to carriers offering competitive fares without the congestion of major hubs,” Heimlich said.

Local travel agent Lisa Carver said, “New nonstop options give Huntsville residents more affordable access to popular vacation spots, which could boost local tourism and weekend travel.”

Similarly, Charleston resident Mark Turner welcomed the Atlantic City flight, adding, “It’s a convenient way for families in New Jersey to reach the Southeast without multiple connections.”

Breeze Airways’ continued network expansion highlights the potential for smaller regional airports to attract new travelers and increase competition among low cost carriers.

Analysts anticipate that introductory fares and added convenience could stimulate demand and encourage other carriers to expand services in comparable markets.

The new Breeze Airways routes from Huntsville and Atlantic City mark a notable expansion in US regional air service, providing travelers with more direct, cost effective options to popular destinations in Florida and the Southeast.

As low cost carriers continue to target smaller airports, travelers in these markets are likely to benefit from increased connectivity and fare competition.
