Presley Gerber, the model and only son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died Sunday, Sept. 20, at age 27 at a rehabilitation facility, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed the location of Gerber’s death as a rehabilitation facility. PEOPLE reported that no official cause had been announced, while TMZ said an autopsy had not yet been completed.
A representative for Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia Gerber confirmed Presley’s death and asked the public to respect the family’s privacy during what the representative described as a difficult and painful time.
Presley Gerber’s Mental Health Journey
Gerber had previously discussed his struggles with mental health and depression. During a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he said he hoped sharing his experiences could help other people dealing with similar challenges.
PEOPLE also reported that Gerber discussed medications he had been taking for panic attacks in a since-deleted Instagram video posted in December 2025. His public discussions made mental health and treatment part of his broader public story.
Cindy Crawford’s Recent Comments
The news follows an interview Cindy Crawford gave to PORTER magazine that was published Sept. 10. She discussed adjusting to life after her children had become adults and moved away from the family home.
Crawford also spoke about how empty nesting had given her and Rande an opportunity to reconsider their relationship and future plans together. She said she hoped to eventually experience becoming a grandmother.
Gerber entered modeling as a teenager and worked with major fashion brands. He appeared in campaigns and runway projects involving names including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Celine.
The family has not publicly disclosed additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
