Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski Split After Nine Years

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have separated after nine years of marriage, confirming the decision in a joint statement published by PEOPLE on Sept. 15.

The couple said their separation was a mutual decision focused on their family unit. Their statement also emphasized that they would continue to have each other in their lives.

Seyfried, 40, and Sadoski, 50, met while appearing in the 2015 off-Broadway production The Way We Get By. They later reunited professionally in The Last Word, where their relationship developed beyond the stage and screen.

PEOPLE reported that the pair began dating in 2016, became engaged later that year and quietly eloped in March 2017. Their daughter Nina was born shortly afterward, while their son Thomas Jr. arrived in September 2020.

The actors largely kept their children away from public attention and built a quieter life on a farm in upstate New York. In a February interview with Net-a-Porter, Seyfried said her children understood that she was an actor while also having privacy and security at home.

The couple continued supporting each other professionally. Seyfried thanked Sadoski during her 2022 Emmy acceptance speech, while he joined her at the 2023 premiere of The Crowded Room.

Earlier in September, Seyfried was photographed without her wedding ring at the Toronto International Film Festival, prompting speculation about their relationship. On Sept. 15, she shared a photo of Sadoski with a gecko and referred to him as “#reptiledad.”

In January 2026, Seyfried also told Vogue that Sadoski “sacrifices a lot” to support her career during a busy period.
