Kylie Jenner is set to star and executive produce Hulu’s thriller drama Bachelorette Weekend, marking her first major scripted television role.
Kylie Jenner is expanding her entertainment career with a leading role in Hulu’s planned thriller drama Bachelorette Weekend, according to Deadline.
Jenner will also executive produce the series, which is based on an unpublished novel by Flora Collins.
The story centers on a group of close friends whose bachelorette celebration becomes a murder investigation after the bride, played by Jenner, is found dead in a pool.
The series is structured around the events leading to the killing, with Jenner’s character serving as the central figure in the story.
Lauren Oliver, whose work includes the YA novels Before I Fall, Delirium and Panic, created the television adaptation and will executive produce.
Aaron Kaplan and Jaiden Kaplan are also involved through Kapital Entertainment, which is co-studio on the project with 20th Television. Kim Kardashian is among the executive producers.
Deadline reported that Kardashian received the project through her first-look arrangement with 20th Television and believed it could be a suitable starring vehicle for Jenner.
Hulu subsequently acquired the project, with a straight-to-series order still being finalized.
The role represents a larger scripted acting opportunity for Jenner, who has previously appeared as herself on The Simpsons and voiced a character in Trolls Holiday in Harmony. She is also a star and executive producer on Hulu’s reality series The Kardashians.
Jenner has recently shown increasing interest in scripted entertainment, including a cameo in Charli xcx’s A24 film The Moment.
Her sister Kardashian has similarly expanded beyond reality television, starring in and producing Hulu’s legal drama All’s Fair.
